Approval for the use of industrial gas storage facilities

The technical safety authority approves the use of gas storage tanks with a nominal volume of 5 m3 or more and used to store unpressurised flammable gases.

Self-employed or company engaged in the use of industrial gas storage facilities.

The operator shall submit an application to the technical safety authority for the use of gas storage tanks with a nominal volume of 5 m3 or more.

The conditions to be met for official approval:

The designer’s statement may be used to certify compliance with the technical safety requirements.

The authority shall prohibit unauthorised use and shall impose a fine if the infringement persists. The authority shall prohibit operation if the requirements specified in the technical safety regulations are not met.

The administrative time limit is 60 days.

The following shall be attached to the application for approval:

  1. working design,
  2. designer’s statement.

A fee is payable for the approval procedure (HUF 3 000).

No appeal may be made against the merits of the authority’s decision. If you do not agree with the authority’s decision, you may submit an application to bring an administrative lawsuit based on an infringement of the law within 30 days of receipt of the decision. The application must be addressed to the competent court with territorial jurisdiction, and submitted electronically to the Budapest or county government office acting as the technical safety authority.
